The McQuistion Holiday Shop and Family Night were a great start to the holiday season!
Students were encouraged to focus on the giving spirit of the season and had the opportunity to shop for their loved ones throughout the week. Families were able to also visit the shop during family night while having milk and cookies with Santa and Mrs. Claus and visiting with the Grinch at the holiday family night event. Many families painted ornament keepsakes and enjoyed time being festive together!

Dear BASD Elementary Families,
As we continue to prepare for the possibility of remote learning, we would like to make sure our families are as prepared as possible.
Dear BASD Parents/Guardians of Students in Grades K-5:
We hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As we head back to school, we are preparing for the possibility of remote learning. There are a few important things we would like to share with you to help your family prepare for this possibility.
McQuistion Elementary School welcomed Jungle Terry and his variety of animal friends for a couple up-close and hands-on assemblies. The students’ awe and amazement grew as they learned about furry, funny creatures like ferrets and chinchillas, met a dove with a turkey-like tail, watched a turtle race and petted a boa! This was definitely a fun learning opportunity!
McQuistion Elementary School students and families were extremely generous in a turkey feather fundraiser this Thanksgiving season! The top class earned a pizza party with their Teacher Turkey on Tuesday. Mrs. Ellis made a fabulous turkey!
Each year I like to remind our families of our Winter Weather Plan.
I make the decision to delay or cancel school after I review the weather forecast and consult with our Transportation Department. When necessary, the district also consults with the municipalities and other resources within our community. Each decision regarding whether or not to delay or cancel school is made with student safety as the primary concern. I recognize that any delay or cancellation can create hardships for our families and do not take this decision lightly.
McQuistion Elementary School third, fourth and fifth grade students glowed in their neon attire as they danced the night away at the annual Glow Dance!
This event was full of dance circles, conga lines, and fun with friends and families! Thank you to everyone who helped make the Glow Dance a success!
McQuistion Elementary School students in kindergarten, first grade and second grade were invited to the Fall Festival Costume Party, which was sponsored by the school's PTO. Students danced, played and visited a little pumpkin patch provided by Huffman Farms. It was a fun family event celebrating the fall season!
Butler Area School District is honored to be one of only six school districts most recently recognized as an AASA Learning 2025 Lighthouse System by AASA, The School Superintendents Association. This prestigious designation highlights our district's commitment to transformative education and continual innovation on behalf of our students and community.
McQuistion Elementary School's PTO hosted a Trunk or Treat family fun night! Many families showed off their creativity through their festive trunk decorations while other families chose to dress up in their Halloween costumes and come on out for the treats!

This is a reminder that tick season is upon us. We encourage you to check your children for ticks or signs of a tick bite each day.
While we do not check students for ticks while they are at school, it is possible that a tick will be discovered. In that case, the school nurse will notify you if a tick is found on your student while they are at school.

I regret to inform you that we are canceling school today, Thursday, September 12, 2024. As you are aware from our communication yesterday, we initially received a vague threat targeting our secondary schools. After receiving reports from parents and students about additional threats, we determined that these mirrored threats made to other districts in the region, which were deemed not credible. Unfortunately, overnight we have received further threats.
Welcome back! The school year is off to a great start!
The 2024-2025 school year will be filled with many exciting opportunities for the students in our school district. I'm excited to share more in our annual "Welcome Back" publication. Click here or click on the image below to read it.
